Recurrent herpes labialis, also known as a “cold sore” or “fever blister” are never fun for anyone.  They are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV1) and usually occur outside the mouth on the lips, chin, cheeks or nostrils.  They can also occur less frequently intraorally on non-movable tissues such the hard palate and attached gingivae (gums that are attached to and cover bony structures).  Approximately 80% of the population experience outbreaks of the virus.

Dr Scott LoganAfter receiving his B.B.A. in finance from Texas A&M University in 1979, Dr. Logan moved to Dallas to pursue his professional education at Baylor College of Dentistry. There he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. After receipt of his dental degree he chose to train an additional year at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City where he received his General Practice Residency certificate. He was presented the Outstanding Service Award by the hospital for his year of service there.

To provide his patients with outstanding service and care, Dr. Logan is committed to being a continuous student in dentistry. He regularly attends advanced dental education courses to expand his knowledge and stay current with the rapid innovations in his field. He has completed training at the highly esteemed L.D. Pankey institute for Advanced Dental Education, and since 1997 has been serving as part of the Visiting teaching faculty.  There he assists in instructing dentists from all over the world, one to two weeks a year at their facility in Key Biscayne, Florida. Because of his achievments in continuing education, Dr. Logan has received his Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry, and has completed the rigorous requirements for his Masters. Dr. Logan is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Southwest Prosthodontic Society and is a Fellow in both the International College of Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Logan has made signifcant contributions to the field of dentistry by serving in numerous capacities at both the local and state levels of the Texas Dental Association. He has served as President for both the Brazos Valley District Dental Society and the Brazos Valley Academy of General Dentistry. In addition, he served as a delegate to the House of Delegates for the Texas Dental Association. He was also presented the Brazos Valley Young Dentist of the Year award in 1991.  Dr. Logan was chosen by his colleagues as one of a select few to be honored as a "Texas Super Dentists" by Texas Monthly magazine for the year 2005 and 2006.

Dr. Logan and his wife Janet were married in 1985 and have been blessed with two beautiful children - their daughter Kinsey and son Kirby. They have lived in Huntsville since 1985 when his dental practice began. He serves as a deacon at the Huntsville Church of Christ and is involved with teaching a variety of classes there. His love for people and attention to superior service compliments his professional expertise as he works with patients to create health and beauty in their smiles.
